COMPOSING

"I have grown up without notated music. All music has all gone through ears and fingers. Only as an adult I started learning sheet music, which is in many ways a handicap, but actually also sometimes an advantage. In all the groups I participate in, we write our own music. In such a context, the composer is a tool for the musicians, not the other way around. But I also write music for notated ensembles, where the process becomes completely different and exciting in a different way."

Ale Möller has more than 1,200 registered compositions. He has collaborated with most of the Swedish symphony- and chamber orchestras, and has been an ”Artist in Residence" at the concert halls in Gävle and Vara. Ale has written music for films and countless theater performances.

Xeno Manía

A commission from the Swedish National Radio, which later resulted in the album "Xeno Manía" (2021, Quality Recordings). A major musical venture for a spectacular nine piece band, showing Ale's fascination for rhythms in melodies.

The music is inspired by his many travels, and specifically his meetings with four strong musicians from three different continents; Gibril Bah, Tarak das Baul, Röjås Jonas och Barba Thodoros.

- Nils Landgren

Ale Möller & Gothenburg Wind Orchestra

Music specially composed for Gothenburg Wind Orchestra that moves in and out of the borderland between folk and world music, improvisation and contemporary classical music.

Ale Möller Band meets Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra

Led and arranged by Hans Ek

Review from live performance at Berwaldhallen, Stockholm. By Tony Lundman, SvD.

“Musikaliska ”möten” och ”gränsöverskridanden” i all ära, men ofta verkar det bara bli tom retorik och dimmiga förhoppningar. Fast något mer än så kunde man väl ändå hoppas på då all upptänklig musiks leende supermedlare, Ale Möller med band, hade stämt träff med Radiosymfonikerna. I programmet blandades klassisk repertoar med de folkliga traditionernas musik som är Möllers livsluft. Och resultatet var långt över förväntan, rent tankeväckande.”
